Austal Limited (ASX:ASB) has announced a contract extension worth A$137.02 million to construct two additional Evolved Cape-class Patrol Boats (ECCPBs) for the Australian Border Force (ABF). This deal increases the total number of ECCPBs built by Austal to 12, with eight already delivered to date.

Project Background
The Evolved Cape-class Patrol Boat Project (SEA1445-1) began in May 2020 with an initial order for six vessels for the Royal Australian Navy. This was later extended by two boats in April 2022, and again by another two in February 2024.
- Deliveries to Date:
- 8 vessels have been delivered.
- 2 vessels are currently under construction at Austal’s Henderson shipyard in Western Australia.
- Fleet Integration:
These new patrol boats will join the ABF’s existing fleet of eight original Cape-class Patrol Boats delivered by Austal from 2012 to 2015.

Austal provides ongoing maintenance and support for the ECCPB fleet through its service centres in:- Henderson, Western Australia.
- Cairns, Queensland.
- Darwin, Northern Territory.
- Guardian-Class Patrol Boats:
Austal is also delivering 24 steel-hulled Guardian-class Patrol Boats under the Pacific Patrol Boat Replacement Project (SEA3036-1). To date, 22 vessels have been delivered since 2018.
