Key Permitting Milestone for Adina with Preliminary Information Statement Submission

Highlights:

  • Winsome Resources (ASX: WR1) has submitted the Preliminary Information Statement (PIS) for its Adina Lithium Project, which includes modifications to the Renard Operation, to the Québec authorities.
  • This submission launches the provincial regulatory process in the Eeyou Istchee James Bay region.
  • Québec authorities will review the PIS and provide guidelines for the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), outlining required studies.
  • Winsome’s extensive dataset from Renard’s operational history and early Adina baseline studies positions the company to meet regulatory requirements efficiently.
  • The PIS facilitates further engagement with stakeholders, including the Cree Nation of Mistissini, to align on project benefits.

Winsome Resources is advancing its Adina Lithium Mining Project by submitting the Preliminary Information Statement to the Ministère de l’Environnement, de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques, de la Faune et des Parcs (MELCCFP). This milestone initiates a structured permitting process under the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement (JBNQA).

Managing Director’s Remarks

Chris Evans, Managing Director of Winsome Resources, noted:
“The PIS submission is a significant milestone in our journey to production. It provides stakeholders, investors, and local communities with detailed insights into our proposed development, enabling collaboration to maximize benefits for all parties.”

Evans credited Dr. Geneviève Morinville and Dr. Mariana Trindade for their critical roles in preparing the PIS and emphasized the company’s commitment to working closely with all stakeholders during the project’s development.

Environmental and Social Impact Assessment Process

The Adina Project will adhere to the rigorous ESIA protocols under Section 22 of the JBNQA. The COMEV (Environmental and Social Impact Evaluating Committee) will evaluate the PIS and issue a directive detailing the scope and studies required for the ESIA.

The directive is expected by Q2 2025, providing a roadmap for the ESIA’s next stages. Winsome is also collaborating with the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada for federal regulatory compliance.

Baseline Studies and Community Engagement

Winsome has leveraged its operational experience at Renard and initiated baseline studies for Adina in 2023. These efforts include:

  • Biophysical studies: Hydrology, water quality, soil, climate, and biological surveys (e.g., fish, vegetation, and wildlife).
  • Socioeconomic studies: Traditional land use, archaeology, and community consultations.

The first consultation round with local land users, including those from nine traplines, was completed in late 2024, with more engagements planned for 2025 to align with regulatory directives.

Winsome’s efficient use of existing infrastructure at Renard and proactive stakeholder engagement demonstrate its commitment to sustainable development and regulatory compliance. This submission represents another key step in advancing the Adina Lithium Project toward production.
