Pro Medicus (ASX: PME) has taken another major step in its artificial intelligence (AI) push, announcing a multi-year research collaboration agreement between its U.S. subsidiary, Visage Imaging, and the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).
Under the deal, UCSF will tap into the capabilities of the Visage AI Accelerator platform—an end-to-end toolkit designed to support AI innovation from clinical research all the way to product commercialisation. The partnership aims to develop and validate new AI tools with real-world clinical applications in medical imaging.
The agreement builds on an already strong relationship between the two, with UCSF currently using Visage 7, Pro Medicus’ flagship diagnostic viewer. Now, with this deeper collaboration, both parties are set to explore how AI can transform radiology workflows and patient care.
Pro Medicus’ Global CTO, Dr Malte Westerhoff, said the AI Accelerator platform gives researchers powerful tools to securely manage, curate, and analyse clinical imaging data—ultimately enabling faster, more seamless integration of AI into real clinical environments.
“AI is going to play an increasingly critical role in imaging IT,” said Westerhoff. “This collaboration is about aligning UCSF’s research depth with our technical strength to deliver AI solutions that are clinically relevant and impactful.”
He added that the Visage 7 platform is already built to support both proprietary and third-party AI algorithms directly within the clinician’s workflow, reducing friction between innovation and implementation.
For Pro Medicus, this partnership represents another building block in its long-term AI strategy. With one of the most advanced imaging platforms on the market and a growing list of elite U.S. healthcare customers, the company is positioning itself at the forefront of AI-driven transformation in medical imaging.
