Winsome Resources (ASX: WR1) has announced a significant new high-grade spodumene-bearing pegmatite discovery at its Sirmac-Clapier Project in Quebec, Canada. The discovery marks a major milestone in the company’s early-stage exploration efforts and strengthens its position in the lithium market.
Key Highlights:
- New high-grade spodumene pegmatite identified at Sirmac-Clapier, 30km from key road and rail infrastructure.
- Outcrop measures 100m by 60m and is believed to continue beneath surface cover.
- High-grade lithium mineralisation confirmed through channel sampling, with assays returning up to 3.0% Li₂O.
- Significant cesium and tantalum mineralisation also detected, adding further exploration potential.
- Key assay results include:
- 26m at 2.69% Li₂O + 1.12% Cs₂O
- 16m at 1.74% Li₂O and 19m at 1.70% Li₂O (perpendicular crosscuts).
- Further exploration, including drill testing, planned for 2025.
Managing Director Chris Evans on the Discovery
“New discoveries are always exciting, and this is no exception,” said Winsome Resources Managing Director Chris Evans.
“We were confident that our systematic exploration approach would lead to new targets, and this find validates our strategy. While our primary focus remains on the Adina Lithium Project and the potential processing opportunity at Renard, this discovery at Sirmac-Clapier is a compelling addition to our portfolio.”
Strategic Location and Infrastructure Advantage
The Sirmac-Clapier Project is located 40km from the Moblan Lithium Deposit (owned by Sayona, ASX: SYA) and 100km from key transport hubs in Chibougamau and Chapais, providing access to rail infrastructure. Additionally, the site is approximately 600km from Winsome’s Renard processing opportunity, offering potential synergies for future development.
High-Grade Cesium Discovery – A Rare Opportunity
One of the most intriguing aspects of the discovery is the presence of high-grade cesium mineralisation. Cesium is a highly valuable and rare mineral, with only three commercial deposits mined globally to date.
Given its 19.6% stake in Power Metals Corp (TSX-V: PWM) and exclusive offtake rights to lithium, tantalum, and cesium products, Winsome plans to leverage its partnership with Power Metals to assess the cesium potential at Sirmac-Clapier.
Next Steps in Exploration
- Ongoing re-analysis of high-cesium-content samples to determine precise mineral grades.
- Further mapping and drilling programs planned for 2025.
- Continued assessment of potential development pathways for both lithium and cesium resources.
This latest discovery at Sirmac-Clapier further strengthens Winsome’s Quebec lithium portfolio and highlights the region’s potential to become a key player in the North American battery metals supply chain.
